Unity 101 – 19th Annual Awards & Achievement Event 2025

An Evening of Inspirational Southampton Stories, Community Spirit, and Celebratory Triumphs!

 

Last Friday (10th January 2025, the Unity 101 Awards & Achievement Event again brought together the Southampton community for an extraordinary evening of recognition and inspiration. This celebration showcased the city’s vibrant diversity, global connections, and the transformative power of lifelong learning.

 

Michael Steel, Director of Kiwi Education hosted this year’s Apprenticeship Award which will be announced during the upcoming National Apprenticeship Week Celebrations. Michael was once a regular host of the show, as one of the station’s first volunteers to foster conversations around disability inclusion, education, and community growth.

 

The evening was filled with moments of inspiration, celebrating the achievements of individuals and organisations that exemplify unity, growth, and dedication to making a difference in the community. With Awards &TED-styletalks hosted by a plethora of special guests.

 

Most Notably Southampton Born TV Chef & Restaurateur – Shelina Permalloo who received her lifetime achievement award. Who shared how proud she was to receive the award & her love for the city.

 

‘After winning MasterChef I could have opened a restaurant in London but I chose Southampton as I wanted to make our local economy better, the local people better – & make the food scene better.’  ‘We all have the power to lead and to create an impact in our communities. By working together and uplifting those around us, we can truly make a difference.

Attendees left with a renewed sense of pride in Southampton’s collective accomplishments and the shared ambition to build a brighter future.
