Being environmentally friendly can not only save the planet but it can also help you to save money on your energy bills.

With the recent 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference – COP26. The world leaders are discussing what can be done to help the environment and tackle climate change.

Here are some tips for ways you can be more environmentally friendly at home in your day-to-day life.

Tip 1: – Switch appliances and devices off

Leaving your devices on standby is keeping it in a low power state that wastes electric. Switching these off at the wall will not only reduce your carbon footprint but it will help you save money on your energy bills.

Tip 2: – Stop wasting food

Approximately 7.3 million tonnes of food is wasted in the UK each year. This is a large amount of waste that is filling up the landfills and adds to the CO2 created there.

Tip 3: – Buy eco-friendly technology

Turning off appliances and devices is one way to help save energy, but you can also invest in eco-friendly technology which means your appliances are more energy efficient. When you use the appliance, it will use a lot less energy which will save you money and reduce your energy output.

Tip 4: – Recycle, recycle, recycle

Most households have adopted recycling into their everyday life with paper and other items being separated from normal waste to be recycling, but it doesn’t stop there. You can recycle everything from batteries to paper to tins and cans. Instead of throwing your items in the bin, consider up-cycling them or giving them to charity to be used by someone else.

Tip 5: – Switch your light bulbs to LED

The old conventional bulbs are a thing of the past with more people switching their indoor and outdoor lights to LED. These LED lights not only last longer but they are more efficient too. This means they will last a lot longer than older style bulbs which means less replacing for you. LED bulbs are available in a range of brightness and designs so you can customise your home or garden in more ways, all while being environmentally friendly.
