Poppy enrolled on the Retailer apprenticeship when she worked in Costa Coffee. She recently passed her qualification and gave us an insight into her experience on an apprenticeship.

“At first I was nervous about starting an apprenticeship as I haven’t done any work like this since college. My trainer was understanding of this and we broke the course down into manageable sections that made me not only feel empowered but motivated to work through each section. I was able to put the skills I learnt with my trainer into use in my day to day work activities and this help me understand not only Costa but my customers better. My manager noticed a change in the way i was working and how I was up-selling the drinks to the customers.

I would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone who wants to get a qualification while they are working as it is something to keep you focused and it looks great on the CV” – Poppy Harrison
